Flumist - Painless nasal
flu vaccine is available for all children two years of age
and older
Gardasil - Three doses
two and six months apart - a vaccine for girls 9 years old
and older to
prevent cervical cancer
Varivax - a booster dose
of chickenpox vaccine is now recommended for all children over
4
years of age
Hepatitis
A vaccine - a
series of two shots 6-12 months apart is now being given to
all
children and adolescents
Tdap - New tetanus, diphtheria,
and whooping cough vaccine for all children and adults over
7
years old - one dose
Rotateq - an oral vaccine
for rotavirus (causes severe diarrhea) is now available but
must be
started no later than 12 weeks of age so that the last dose
can be given before 36
weeks of age.
Menactra - to prevent meningococcal
meningitis - is available for all children 10 years of age
or
older. It is a single dose vaccine.
